Isabela Thornsley [they/she]

My name is Isabela Thornsley. I am from Flagstaff, Arizona and I have been a resident here in Washington Since 2018.  I am an Instrumental and Choral Music Education graduate from Central Washington University.  

Throughout my journey as an educator, I have grown to love sharing my passion for music and the growth of healthy minds in the classroom. Music has been intertwined in my life since I was young. At age 11, I began to study the cello and quickly fell in love with the communal aspect of being in an orchestra. Orchestra and music have brought me many friends, memories and opportunities that I hope to share with my students. I have been teaching cello at YAMA for 2 years and am looking forward to broadening my horizons this year with more students! YAMA has solidified that teaching is something that I would like to continue helping the future of our young musicians. 

Through music, I have been able to share my passion of diversity, healthy relationships with practice, and self expression. I am excited to share music and to learn more about how to be an educator; being a teacher is signing up to be a life long learner!

Outside of teaching, you can find me crocheting, drinking coffee or swimming in the nearest body of water!
