A Visit from the Stage
What does it look like when a professional soloist steps into a room full of young musicians? For students in YAMA's Chamber, Combo, and Philharmonia ensembles, they got to find out firsthand when violinist Denise Dillenbeck paid a visit to our program on February 18, ahead of her performance as the featured soloist with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra.
A Trip to the Symphony: Duke Ellington’s The River and a Mozart Piano Concerto
On November 22, Philharmonia and Combo students attended the Yakima Symphony Orchestra’s From the Danube to the Moldau concert, seated just a few rows from the stage, close enough to watch soloist Yerin Kim perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 at the piano. They enjoyed a rich program that included Strauss Jr.’s Beautiful Blue Danube, Duke Ellington’s The River, and Bedřich Smetana’s The Moldau.
YAMA Goes Camping: Wrapping Up Our Year Together
At the start of summer, our Philharmornia students enjoyed a special camping trip where we visited Maryhill Museum and Goldendale Observatory!
