Jordan Taylor

Jordan Taylor [THEY/Them]

Jordan is currently a violist studying music performance and interdisciplinary honors at Central Washington University. After beginning violin in 5th grade, they decided to add viola as a secondary instrument and later made the switch to “the dark side” in college.

During their time at CWU, Jordan has been involved in various ensembles across Washington State, won first place in the 2023 CWU concerto competition, and recently expanded their artistic reach by making their international solo and chamber music debut in the summer of 2024. They are passionate about promoting accessibility in musical communities and has been an advocate for injury prevention strategies.

Their love for teaching music stems from their mentors in the Seattle Public Schools system, as they had limited access to private lessons. Orchestra class was framed as a community where members share in each-others’ successes and provide comfort in times of loss. Jordan felt safe to express their authentic self through music and is committed to facilitating the same environment for their students.

Outside of school and practice, they can be found crafting, baking, exploring the great outdoors, and caring for their houseplants.
